On Monday, I had my long-anticipated appointment with my oncologist, to review the findings from my latest PET scan on January 23rd. I am so THANKFUL, RELIEVED, and BLESSED to report that my body is responding to the treatment! The official findings state NO hyper-metabolic activity, meaning the cancer has not only been prevented from growing but there are currently NO signs of it in my breast or liver. His physical exam also showed positive visual changes and he can no longer feel the nodule either. To be sure, I will have a CT scan next in April, which is a better method of viewing the liver and overall ongoing progress. But, my doctor is very happy with these results and said after I finish this last round of chemo (chemo #6), that I can be finished with the chemo portion of the TCHP treatment regimen and will begin solely the targeted therapy drugs! No chemo means I should have less unpleasant symptoms, and, my hair should start growing back. The current plan is to continue targeted therapy treatments every 3 weeks (same deal/place as my current treatments, just without the chemo portion) and then continue to have scans every 3 months. The ongoing CT scans will give my doctor and me a better overall understanding of how the new treatment plan is going, how my body is responding, and if they need to make any changes. I’m still adjusting with the fact that this is my life now – ongoing and regular treatment and scans – but I’m also relieved knowing I’ll always be closely monitored to make sure the cancer stays away. I plan to continue fighting it with everything I have to make sure that’s the case, too. But right now, I am proud and ecstatic and overjoyed to say that I AM CANCER FREE. Now let’s keep it that way. Thank you all for rooting for me, your prayers, encouragement, love, support, gifts, meals, everything. My fight isn’t over, but I will continue to face this battle with my army alongside me. I know I can do anything.

Love,

Mandy

p.s. A few hours after the appointment, my friend Fernando and family brought us a delicious meal, and they told me to come outside to see the rainbow. I know my family in heaven were celebrating with me ❤️
